Kendall's last night of Hannukah gift was a carriage ride through Highland Park to see Christmas lights. It was actually the second Christmas related Hannukah gift she received. Truly a morphed holiday season here. To make it more fun for us both, we invited besties Alana and Tara to join us.
The carriage ride was lovely. At least until a carriage with two runaway horses flew past us, clearly spooked by traffic. The driver of the runaway carriage fell off right next to us and almost got hit by the car behind us. Kendall was convinced he broke his back and died. I think he had disconnected the carriage as he fell because we later saw the horseless carriage and the passengers safe on the side of the road a few blocks down. The line of carriages all stopped while the HP emergency vehicles got there and spooked the rest of the horses. Our driver nonchalantly turned around to inform us that the exact same thing had happened to him the previous year. Um.... really?? We successfully reassured the girls that WE were safe and that OUR horse (who was indeed freaking out) was perfectly calm. No one said a word when Kendall yelled "Slow down Jackass!!!" to a car that sped by us. Needless to say, the mamas increased the amount of peppermint schnapps in our cocoa for the remainder of our ride and I don't think any of us will want to go again. I have since then heard that the driver is ok and the horses were found still hitched together and unharmed a few miles away.
