Here's to the Ladies who Lunch!

We were at Nana's house today and I asked Kendall to get ready to leave to go out to lunch. This is how I found her standing at the door to the garage. She's missing shoes, but her cell phone was in her purse, the car keys are the ones that actually start the car, and the sunglasses were definitely necessary!

Common Theme?

Anyone notice a common theme of the following pictures? It's an odd pairing, but my childhood teddy bear (Bo Bear) and Elmo appear to be inseparable. They are also inseparable from my child, who carries them everywhere and refers to the collectively as "Bubba." They take naps with her. They eat every meal with her. They spend every night in her arms. They assist her in her play with other toys. They watch television with her. They sit in her car with her. They ride in my car with us. And lately, they've even visited mall play areas, the museum, and grocery stores. (We're putting a stop to that, however, and they will now patiently await her return in the car). Most kids have a "lovey" to which they are firmly attached at her age. Not to be outdone by the ordinary, however, Kendall has TWO!

18 Month Check-up

July 9th, 2010

Stats:
Weight: 26.2 pounds (75th percentile)
Height: 31.5 inches (45th percentile)
Head circumference: 18 1/4 inches (40th percentile)
Shots: final DTaP and first Hep A
Screaming: LOTS!
Prescription Yeast Cream to add to the buffet of butt products on the changing table: $200 (this stuff better work magic)

All healthy, though! Right on track physically and ahead of her age group cognitively! No more doctor appointments until the 2 year checkup and then we're down to ONE check-up a year ... and we can start referring to her age in years as opposed to months! Seems like just yesterday we were still referring to her age in weeks, but that would just make her sound old now. Speaking of OLD, next month, I will turn 1,976 weeks old. I'm thinking I might start referring to my age in decades ... then I'm still 3 for a couple more years! :)

Message to Kendall's Art Teachers:

Dear Teachers,

I am LOVING my Art class ... and I still find paint, especially the green flavor, to be one of the yummiest things in the world! But my mommy assures me that playing with CLAY would be equally fun. So since she REALLY wants a "clay-day," can we please have one to make my mommy happy? Thank you in advance!

Love,
Kendall

Happy Year and a Half!

The more I think about it, the more I think my cousin Stacy is onto something with her 1/2 birthday idea. Like Kendall, both of her children suffer from holiday season birthdays, and I agree wholeheartedly with her that they are, through no fault of their own, wrongfully deprived of the appropriate birthday attention. Unfortunately, unlike Stacy, my family does not (yet) embrace this tradition. So Kendall and I had our own Mother/Daughter 1/2 birthday party. We lit candles (1 and a half candles) on a ginormous cupcake, sang "Happy 1/2 Birthday" and shared the cupcake. Then I gave her the Fisher Price Little People toy set she picked out in Target as her present. I'm thinking next year she may have her actual birthday party (with friends) at the 1/2 year mark since pulling a birthday party together for a toddler 8 days after Christmas isn't likely to happen.

Apparently Kendall is well on her way to inheriting her father's fascination with flames:

And sometimes I think she needs to spend more time watching humans eat as opposed to the dogs:

But it didn't take long to remember that cupcakes are easier to eat with HANDS!

Finger-lickin' good!
