First Parent/Teacher Conference

Here are some highlights from the Spring Conference Report from our very first Parent/Teacher Conference at the J Early Childhood Center:

"1. Kendall really enjoys painting, coloring and manipulating play dough. She has a great attention span and is very proud of her work. She claps her hands when we sing and dances at any given moment.

2. Kendall enjoys being at school. She follows directions, sings along with us and responds to questions and conversations. Kendall loves story time and looking at books.

3. Kendall loves singing our songs, especially "Buckle Toe" (Boker Tov!). She tells us stories throughout the day and is great at reminding us about our schedule. She is so much fun to talk to.

4. Kendall can complete puzzles with little assistance and knows where the toys belong within the classroom. She is very easy to reason with and is great about reminding us about our schedule (seeing as how they put this in here twice, I have to wonder if Kendall is actually a tad bit OCD about staying on schedule ... and if so, I suppose she comes by that trait naturally!)

5. Kendall lets us know right away when she needs a diaper change, eats and drinks independently, and is happy to wash her hands with little help. She is very helpful with clean-up also. (ummm, where is THAT trait at home??)

6. Kendall knows all of her friends' names and is aware of their emotions as she will ask why someone is sad. Kendall will play by herself and she enjoys her peers as well.

7. Kendall has added so much to our class this semester. She is a delight to be with and we thank you for sharing her with us!"

In addition to the glowing written report, her teachers informed us that they have a classroom full of non-talking children but that Kendall makes up for ALL of them since she talks non-stop while she's there. I'm taking that as a positive comment!

The only thing she needs to work on is staying with the group when they go somewhere (apparently she is consistently lagging behind and in her own little world when they leave the classroom) and going up and down stairs (we knew this and her gross motor skills have always been a bit slow to come compared to her verbal skills).
