By 7:15AM, Kendall was up, dressed, fed, had her hair done, and was on the front porch posing for first day pictures! I was still in my jammies but we made it out the door and to the school on time.
The choice of footwear is (a) a testament to my ultra-cool, laid back parenting style, (b) a testament to my never-ending single working mom fatigue, (c) a testament to Kendall's cutting edge sense of fashion, or (d) all of the above?
There was, according to Kendall, one bout of tears and one trip to the nurse's office because of a mystery itch behind her right ("or maybe it was left?") ear, but her teacher sent me an email with a selfie of herself and Kendall around 3:00 and they were both smiling. This year there are 17 kids in Kendall's class with one teacher, Mrs. Dalton. So far, we both like her. She has twin 1.5 year olds at home so I'm pretty sure she'll understand my fatigue and frequent space cadet moments and we'll get along just fine.
Flashback to the day before school started: Here is the loot that came home from the parent/teacher intake conference.
And, of course, the toes and fingers had to be pretty for the first day!
